2008 into 2009: As I Lay Dying

Nick Hipa play guitars in literarily-leaning Californian metalcore merchants, As I Lay Dying. Half of his stuff is stuck in Thailand. If we were him, we would have stayed there and guarded it. At some Full Moon Parties or something.

What was your highlight of 2008?
Attending and performing at Wacken!

What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
Being marooned in Thailand as a result of political protesters shutting down the airports. Our equipment and personal effects are still over there somewhere. Where? We have no idea.

Who in 2008 deserves a good kicking?
The San Diego Chargers for consistently blowing it.

Who had the best comeback: Metallica, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?
AC/DC’s new album is sick, but no one was sceptical of it because they always rule. Hence, Metallica had the best comeback because a lot of people were nay-saying but they straight up shook them haters off!

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
The USA becoming the USA again.

What band should everyone find out about in 2009?
The Famine! They are insanely talented and everyone who likes brutal stuff should check ’em out.

What do you want for Christmas?
To be surfing in Hawaii… which is exactly what I plan to do!

Who do you want to get under the mistletoe?
Keikilanipulama Mariah Lynch.

Where will you be on New Year’s Eve?
Probably at some sort of rager!
