Usually the term “Dutch hardcore” causes dirty, dirty images of lithe blondes, baby oil and close shaves, but this time we’re talking about Born From Pain. It’s a band. We spoke to vocalist, Rob Franssen about 2008.

What was your highlight of 2008?
Iron Maiden’s Somewhere Back In Time tour and Wacken Open Air.

What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
Almost losing eyesight in my left eye and saving it by a last-minute operation.

Who in 2008 deserves a good kicking?
The rich global elite and their puppets in politics.

Who had the best comeback: Metallica, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?
Definitely Metallica.

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
A new Iron Maiden album, touring the world and hanging out with good people.

What band should everyone find out about in 2009?
The Setup.

What do you want for Christmas?
Just a nice meal and a good time will do.

Who do you want to get under the mistletoe?
Christina Applegate.

Where will you be on New Year’s Eve?
At a party of good friends in Rotterdam.
