Floridian extreme metallers Order Of Ennead might be a side project but with an album in the can, they’re already making waves. We spoke to bassist, Scott Patrick (Resurrection) and guitarist, Kevin Quirion (Council Of The Fallen).
What was your highlight of 2008?
S: Getting Order Of Ennead up and running.
K: It was a great year. We signed to Earache in May, recorded our debut at Audio Hammer in June. We got to share the stage with Deicide, Hate Eternal, Municipal Waste and Adrift. And our second album is already in the demoing stages, so we were very productive this year.
What is your funniest tour story of 2008?
K: Scott, while in Italy, was so smashed. He just laid his backpack down and then immediately started asking where it was. Later he passed out and Glen Benton started taking pics of him. The guy looked like a corpse he was so out of it. Jack Owen is hilarious as well.
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
K: I guess not being able to play more shows. We were hoping to start touring immediately, but we are waiting until the beginning of 2009 for schedules to clear up.
Who in 2008 deserves a good kicking?
S: Rick Rubin, for not handing that Metallica production off to someone like Mark Lewis, Jason Suecof or Colin Richardson, who actually knows what metal is supposed to sound like in the 21st century. Rick, go listen to anything that came out of Audio Hammer in the past few years and learn something.
Who had the best comeback: Metallica, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?
S: AC/DC, hands down!
What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
S: Summer festivals.
K: Right now we have a tour scheduled for the US with Deicide and Vital Remains for February. Then we would like to hit the US at least one more time and Europe as much as possible. Australia is talked about also. Hitting the European fests would be great as well.
What band should everyone find out about in 2009?
S: Burning Human.
What do you want for Christmas?
S: To be in New York with my daughter on Christmas and have it snow. She hasn’t seen it snow yet.
Who do you want to get under the mistletoe?
S: Olivia Munn! Really though, there is one pretty lady, we’ll see!
Do you have any special traditions for Christmas or New Year?
K: Not much really. My fiancee and I don’t celebrate the holidays. We don’t even buy gifts for each other and fall into that entire economy boost concept. It’s all a scam and I don’t partake in religious activities. If you do need to buy gifts though, our album would make a good one. Out now in stores near you!
Where will you be on New Year’s Eve?
S: Tampa, Florida.
Order Of Ennead are touring throughout Europe in January 2009.
