What was your highlight of 2008?
Releasing Nightmares Of The Ocean, the feature in Kerrang!, Ghostfest… there’s been a lot of really amazing things happen. We’ve also met some awesome bands this year, who have made life a lot more comfortable for us and we’ve made a lot of new friends. I guess that’s my highlight of 2008.

What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
Our drummer Mark tragically lost his cousin, Lucy at the end of the summer which hit him pretty hard. We’ve had a few things happen this year but nothing compared to that.

Who in 2008 deserves a good kicking?
Peaches Geldof, without a doubt! You may as well put her down for 2009, 2010, 2011… I’m not just jumping on the wagon either. Anyone as spoilt and as arrogant as her deserves a two-footed leg-breaker of a kicking!

Who had the best comeback: Metallica, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?
Definitely Metallica, I saw them at Reading and they were something else. I have a lot of respect for the other two bands but Metallica are consistently strong, I couldn’t imagine metal without them.

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
Without a doubt, getting in the studio in April to record the album. We’re all really excited about the new material, it’s a massive turning point for us in terms of sound. It’s going to be a hell of a lot heavier than anything we’ve previously done and should be due out in June, we can’t wait!

What band should everyone find out about in 2009?
I’m really feeling The Eyes of a Traitor at the minute. We played with them in Bath the other week and they were brutal, I think 2009 will be a great year for them. Also keep an eye on Red Seas Fire, they’re not playing yet but what I’ve heard is very very promising and it won’t be long till people are paying attention.

What do you want for Christmas?
A US tour and a slot at Download would be alright. Cheers, Santa.

Who do you want to get under the mistletoe?
If Natalie Imbruglia, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Dannii Minogue got it on and produced a lovechild… that’s who I’d like to meet under the mistletoe!

Where will you be on New Year’s Eve?
I never plan anything for New Year’s – it’s always shit when I do – but I’m sure I’ll end up doing something fun, my mates usually find something good at the last minute.
