2008 into 2009: Xfm Rock Show

The Xfm Rock Show is hosted by the self-proclaimed “relentlessly-upbeat-colourful-midget”, Katie P. She’s no liar. Here, she talks to us about stuff that she likes and that you should like. In a relentless upbeat manner!

What was your highlight of 2008?
Probably the Never Say Die Tour – as it’s pretty fresh in my mind still – seeing Parkway Drive, Unearth and Architects on the same bill was incredible.

What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
Missing seeing Alexisonfire at the Barfly as I had to go to work.

Who in 2008 deserves a good kicking?
Anyone who hasn’t listened to the new Bring Me The Horizon, because they’ve already made up their mind that they hate them. Go listen! That new album is amazing.

Who had the best comeback: Metallica, AC/DC, or Guns N’ Roses?
I actually like all of these new albums. In terms of stupid-amounts-of-exposure and Dr Pepper tie-ins, I’ll have to give it to Guns N’ Roses.

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
Lamb Of God shows in February, maybe seeing Alice In Chains in Australia, Taste Of Chaos USA, and generally running myself into the ground by working as many jobs as possible and never sleeping!

What band should everyone find out about in 2009?
Right now I can’t stop listening to Lower Than Atlantis, The Ghost Inside and a silly bum-wiggling lot called Karate High School.

What do you want for Christmas?
More Case Logic folders to store all the CDs, some new headphones and about 6000 billion airmiles. (Not sure how you’d wrap that last bit).

Who do you want to get under the mistletoe?
Not telling.

Where will you be on New Year’s Eve?
I will be DJ-ing at Brixton Academy for XFM’s NYE party. Myself and the chaps from X Punk will be aiming to bring some rock’n’roll to South London for the night. Come hang out!
