Putting paid to any immediate rumours of a Soundgarden reunion, Chris Cornell has announced a Pink Floyd-inspired album collaboration with hip-hop super-producer Timbaland entitled Scream.

Released on 09 March 2009, it has been billed as a “genre-breaking, pop-rock record for the 21st century that gives you a glimpse into the future of music via some of the most innovative and revolutionary arrangements ever crafted”. Uh huh.

The chances are that this is not the groundbreaking musical extravaganza that the record label is hoping for it to be but with two massive names from such different ends of the musical spectrum working together, it’s bound to make a wad or two of cash.

We expect Timbaland’s trademark electronic drum patterns with Chris Cornell’s trademark vocals over the top, but Thrash Hits will be sure to tell you all about it as soon as we’ve heard it.

Chris Cornell will be playing a one-off show at London Scala on 23 February 2009.

For those of you looking forward to a Soundgarden reunion, you can make do with Slaves To Gravity and MiLLS for now.
