Just when we thought Sonisphere and Download had stolen all the festival thunder, Bloodstock Open Air 2009 have re-invigorated our interest in their metaller-than-thou summer shindig by announcing that the opening night will be co-headlined by those Swedish pin-ups (well, Angela Gossow at least…) Arch Enemy, and none other than the death-grind legends that is Carcass. Colour us excited!
Thrash Hits being Thrash Hits, we’re intrigued as to how guitarist Michael Amott’s going to handle this – being a founder and current member of both Arch Enemy and Carcass, the man’s going to be running a double-shift. While one of his bands is kicking back and enjoying their first post-show beer, he’ll be getting ready for round two of his evening’s shredding, and seeing as Bloodstock is billing this as the only UK show in 2009 for both bands, he better pull out all the stops.

Bloodstock tickets are on sale now through the official Bloodstock website for the reasonable price of £99.95 (+ booking fees and all that nonsense). The festival is set to take place once again at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, from August 14-16.
