The chances are you already know all about Glamour Of The Kill but we caught up with the man formerly known as Chris Carnage about the York metallers.
How did you meet?
We met through school and the York music scene.
Was it at a meeting for people with really metal surnames?
Nah, we’ve ditched those now. [Davey Death, Chris Carnage, Mikey Massacre, B. Brutal]
What made you personally want to start a band?
‘Cos I hit puberty and thought that it would be the best way to get women into bed.
What are your musical influences as a band?
Everything really probably more so ‘80s rock and metal such as Maiden and Skid Row mixed with more modern metalcore such as Killswitch.
What exactly is the glamour of the kill? And who is being killed?
Personally I’m not sure but I reckon Lee Harvey-Oswald would have a pretty good idea!
What was it like growing up in York?
Erm, well to be honest York is shit. You can’t do anything without everyone finding out and other than some pretty walls its wank. The music scene is ok though we’ve got some cool acts developing like good friends of ours, With One Last Breath.
What would your dream support slot be?
Gotta be Maiden, I reckon. We’d probably get punished, as the majority of their fans are old dedicated metalheads but it would be one for the scrapbook!
What’s the worst GOTK show and why?
Probably at the Purple Turtle in London in 2007, when Mike was rocking out and fell of the stage in the first 15 seconds of the set!
What bands do you consider as part of your scene or as your peers?
Our brothers of rock, Black Tide!
Any crazy fan stories?
We’ve got a few with GOTK tattoos or lyrics tattooed on their arms which seems mad but nothing too insane!
Your last record got 10/10 in Metal Hammer. How do you improve on that?
We went Spinal Tap and turned our amps to 11.
What have you got planned for your debut album?
A boatload of hits. Think Disney meets Slipknot and everything in between.
What other new band should everyone find out about?
Iron Maiden. Word is they’re not too bad?
Glamour Of The Kill are on the road with Wednesday 13 from 20 March 2009
