So it appears that our initial thoughts were correct and Sonisphere will hit seven countries – Holland, Germany, Spain, Catalunya, (that’s in Spain, isn’t it?) Sweden, Finland and, of course, England. It looks pretty ace!
FYI, the 60,000 capacity festival hits Knebworth, Hertfordshire on 01 & 02 August 2009 and is headlined by Metallica (Sunday) and Linkin Park (Saturday) with Mastodon, Lamb Of God in tow, as if we hadn’t told you that already.
There will be camping and the best news is that you don’t have to miss a single band. There will only be two stages – one at each end of Knebworth, we imagine – and as one band finishes, one at the other end will start. Get in training because that’s some trekking you’ll be doing.
Tickets are on sale on Wednesday, 11 February 2009 and here are the ticket prices:
Weekend with Camping £157.50
Family Camping per person £157.50 (That doesn’t look like a discount!)
Parking £10.00 (£20.00 on the day)
Early Entry £10
Camper Vans £40
If you need any more information at all, you can visit the official Sonisphere website. We know it says tickets are on sale on 11 August 2009 but we just assumed they were either being typically English and have simply fucked it up.
Our buddies at Metal Hammer have interviewed festival supremo Stuart Galbraith about Sonisphere. He hints that Prodigy are playing Download and that Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead are playing other “indie schmindie” festival. Reading, perhaps!?
