Why didn’t Thrash Hits didn’t go to Damnation Festival last year? We can only assume we were struck down with a temporary case of mental idiocy, seeing as Carcass and Cathedral were headlining. Either that or we couldn’t find it in ourselves to drag ourselves allthe way to Leeds.
We’re not going to make the same mistake this year though – especially since the initial line-up announcements are a bit tasty.
Greek black metallers, Rotting Christ, are making their only UK appearance of 2009 at the festival. Joining them on the bill are A Storm Of Light, the new(ish) post-metal outfit from former Red Sparowes‘ guitarist, Josh Graham, and Northern Irish rockers, Therapy?. If anyone reading doubts Andy Cairns and co deserve a place on the Damnation line-up, then they obviously haven’t listened to the band’s 1999 album, Suicide Pact – You First. It’s one dark mothertrucker of an album.

Tickets for Damnation Festival 2009 are not yet on sale, but when they are, they’ll be available through the festival’s official website. The event is set to return to Leeds University, this year taking place on October 24.
