A dozen new names have been announced for Download Festival 2009, stretching from the pants-crappingly exciting to the…err…pants-crappingly shitty. Oh.

Joining the line-up at Donington Park will be the Thrash Hits-favoured Bring Me The Horizon, Irish AC/DC support The Answer, the meat-loving Fightstar, post-Darkness survivors Stone Gods, Staind, the Corey Taylor-produced Facecage, the punctuation-abusing Go:Audio, the bafflingly-popular Shinedown, Static-X and their incredible haircuts, London rockers Auger Bane, Danish rockabilly metallers Volbeat, and some further nu-metal revivalism in the form of Sevendust.

Some interesting names in there…but are they enough to convinced you that Download should be your festival of choice this summer?

Wasn't overly impressed with this announcement at first - only liked The Answer out of those, would consider Sevendust, Static-X and Stone Gods. But Volbeat are amazing, and Facecage are an excellent metal addition to the festival.

And if self-confirmations are anything to go by, Voivod, Hardcore Superstar and Backyard Babies are all coming to Download this year. The Voivod appearance alone would be unmissable!

    Hellfest!
  • I much prefer Download to Leeds/Reading this year, a lot of good smaller bands coming through for once!

This years Download is a little improvement on past efforts however I will be once more attending Hellfest in France and Graspop in Belgium the weekend after. For some reason the Europeans know how to put on a festival and great line-ups.......watch and learn Download!!!
