It’s almost time for Download Festival 2009. It’s only two weeks away, in fact and we’re getting rather excited. Soon it’ll be time to start looking at that schedule and figuring out what bands you want to see and which ones annoyingly clash.

We already know that Faith No More, Motley Crue and Meshuggah clash, but with FNM making what will surely be a triumphant return, there’s only going to be one winner of that contest.

Thrash Hits will be backstage at Download Festival 2009 interviewing bands, taking photos, reviewing sets and bringing you as much up-to-date news as we can so make sure you check back with us over the weekend.

There are a couple of other bands playing over the weekend, of course. We’ve cherry-picked a few of the ones we think are the best over the weekend. Which one are you looking forward to the most? Make sure you tell us why as well.

    Gallows aren’t playing Download (thankfully)…

    oh what a hideous mistake!

this’ll be between FNM and Limp Bizkit then.

    KARMA TO BURN!!!!!!!

  • 4 Luke Morton // May 28, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Slipknot for me, gotta love watching all of Donington ‘Jump The Fuck Up!’

  • 5 El Grebo // May 28, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Gallows have self confirmed so I guess they’re one of the rumoured secret bands, but they’re fucking lame so it doesn’t matter anyway. TGOAT kicked their arse (musically) in London last week.
other than that there’s a glaring omission from the above list…
    CLUTCH!!!!

  • 6 Raz // May 28, 2009 at 9:10 pm

I might add any glaring omissions that more than one person wants.

So find another Clutch fan haha.

Ghost of a Thousand are headlining the tiny stage aren’t they. It’ll be before Slipknot won’t it? I hope so.

    Gimme the stage times!!

  • 8 Luke Morton // May 28, 2009 at 10:02 pm

The tiny stage is apparently finishing waaaay earlier than the other stages, which is lucky. TGOAT then Prodigy then Slipknot – GET IN!

  • 9 storme_dracula // May 28, 2009 at 10:29 pm

    think u missed out Volbeat…

  • 10 Jason // May 28, 2009 at 11:39 pm

I hope you’re right luke. i don’t wanna miss the GOAT.

They should be on the poll. That’s 2 people who have mentioned them!

  • 11 Charlie // May 29, 2009 at 7:19 am

Got to be Meshuggah! They’re going to be insane. Close second though is Ghost Of A Thousand, get them on the poll!

  • 12 Raz // May 29, 2009 at 12:07 pm

OK, I’ve added Ghost Of A Thousand. They were this >-< close to getting on in the first place. I do love them.

Faith No More, just over ZZ Top. But there’s some quality names missing from that list – Dream Theater, Journey, Skin, Down, Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, Voivod, and Lawnmower Deth – its staggering the number of bands who I think could be best act of the weekend.

The ones to watch in my opinion are the Black Spiders – on early, third stage, Saturday. Awesome rock band judging from what I’ve heard, and will probably check out after Ripper Owens. I strongly recommend them to anyone.

Nobody cares about Pendulum then. Good.

  • 15 Woz // Jun 3, 2009 at 10:52 pm

    Dudes, what about Steel Panther??

  • 16 Cancer Bats // Jun 4, 2009 at 5:30 pm

    Karma To Burn!!!

There’s a 3-way clash between ZZ Top, Clutch and Steel Panther. Who should I see?

Oh, where have the stage times gone? Did you get told off for posting them? Naughty Naughty. Lucky I downloaded them!!! Cheers!

  • 17 Hugh Platt // Jun 4, 2009 at 6:39 pm

ZZ Top all the way on that clash.

Clutch will be back in the UK soon enough to tour the new album. And could you really look your grandchildren in the eye and tell them you missed seeing ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ played live so you could watch a comedy band? Really?
