Hellfire Festival II – heading out of London? **UPDATED – AGAIN!**

Hellfire Festival Thrash Hits

As anyone who attended their rather splendid inaugural event back in February will attest, Hellfire Festival was one badass weekend at the Islington Academy. Well, the Thrash Hits rumour squad has picked up some tasty little tidbits about Hellfire Festival II – which is apparently taking place before the year is out.

Hellfire will be moving out of the capital and into a more central UK location – Birmingham seems likely, what with it being the spiritual birthplace of metal, after all.

**UPDATE** Hellfire Festival isn’t moving permanently, it’ll be back in London for 2010. Hurrah!

Word round the campfire also has it that rather than operating as a solo festival, Hellfire will be riding shotgun alongside another music event. With both the NIA and the NEC both hosting all manner of big music events in the months to come, we’re more than a little convinced Hellfire will be burning up Brum this winter.

**UPDATE** The Hellfire Festival official Twitter has the dates and location as “6-8 Nov 09 @ N.E.C Birmngham”. Birmingham!!

We’ve also got word that rather than being an evening show and two all-dayers, will instead take the shape of three extended evening line-ups. With no substantial drop in capacity (two stages with a 2K capcity, and the third being a ’bar’ stage, whatever that is..), with the right line-up it could be a real killer event.

Speaking of the line-up, we’ve heard a few names being thrown around already - though nothing concrete – but who do you think would be a sweet addition to the bill? Drop us a comment and let us know….

It’s an excuse for a HEAVY METAL ROADTRIP. We did some experiments on the way to Download (some albums just don’t work on a motorway) and this’ll give us an excuse to do some serious measurements.

We probably won’t listen to as much Leppard on the way to Hellfest.

    (We will).

    Hey Y’all,

Hellfire is not ‘moving’ from London to Birmingham – it is adding a Birmingham site! There will still be a Hellfire London in the early part of 2010. How cool is that???
