Everyone sing happy birthday to MegaDave – the most ginger shredder on Earth turns 48 today. Those chaps over at Roadrunner Records have given him a splendid present by way of releasing Megadeth’s return-to-form new album, Endgame, tomorrow. And now we’re giving him a birthday gift of our very own – a dedicated Dave Mustaine-themed Thrash Hits Slaylist.
While MegaDave’s career has mostly been as the lynchpin of Megadeth, he did of course notch up a couple of writing credits on the first two Metallica albums – and while the ‘tallica originals aren’t available on Spotify, we’ve found a couple of cheeky cover versions for the Slaylist. Then there’s his largely overlooked side-project, MD.45 – which some of us here at Thrash Hits are ashamed to say we’d never even heard of till putting together the Slaylist – as well a smattering of songs where The Mustaine appeared as a guest musician.
The launch of Spotify‘s new iPhone application means you now need an invite to join the service, but we’ve got an absolute shedload of them for anyone who hasn’t downloaded Spotify already. Just send us an email and we’ll fire you back an invite.

Seriously though, who’d have thought Dave Mustaine would end up guesting on a Static-X album? That’s got to be our ‘WTF?’ moment of the week. It might not be quite up there with ‘The MegaDave Trainer Shopping Incident‘ in our favourite personal Mustaine moments, but it’s a good ‘un.
