Sunday Spotify Slaylist: Peaceville Records

Peaceville Sunday Spotify Slaylist Thrash Hits

After a couple of weeks absence, our Sunday Spotify Slaylists are back – we’re resuming our series of label tributes with another British indie label, Peaceville Records. Although the label was founded as an outlet for crust-punk, it was with the gloomy atmospheric doom-stylings of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema that the label found its true identity.

Although out of those bands it is only My Dying Bride that remain with the label, Peaceville’s roster has featured other heavyweight talents – most notably the pioneering black metal of Darkthrone, the unquestionably influential At The Gates, and the Swedish alt-doom of Katatonia, who’s recent Night Is The New Day album is surely set to feature in ‘Album of the Year’ lists across the globe.

Spotify are still limiting new free users to their service, but since we’ve got an absolute shedload of invites anyone who hasn’t downloaded Spotify already can just send us an email and we’ll get you sorted quick-snap. Yes, we are that awesome.

With only four Sundays left before 2010 – and because we’ve got something special planned for the last two Slaylists of 2009 – there’s only two more label-tribute Slaylists to go before the end of the year. This means it’s up to you to decide who we cover. Check out who we’ve featured so far in our Slaylist Archive, then let us know in a comment down below who you want to see get the Slaylist treatment.
