Well, it’s been rumoured for years and bloody years, but it looks as though 2010 is finally the year that it’s going to happen – AC/DC have gone and self-confirmed that they’re returning to Donington next year to headline a night at Download Festival 2010.

In what appears to be a slip-up on their official website, the legendary Aussie rockers announced their slot as part of a list of dates that will be available for AC/DC fanclub pre-sales later this month. At present, AC/DC have Friday June 11 pencilled in to make their return to Donington on what would be the 30th anniversay of the first ever Monsters of Rock, the festival that made Donington’s name as the spiritual home of rock’n’roll in the UK.

Don’t believe us? Here’s a screengrab, bitches:

Go on – click and see the whole damn thing. We’re not usually the type to pour fuel on the fire here at Thrash Hits, but this is gonna make the rivalry between Download and Sonisphere really heat up this year.

UPDATED: It seems someone must’ve got on the blower to AC/DC’s webmaster, as the Donington and Bulgarian dates have now mysteriously disappeared from their news page. HMMMM.
