Well, we’re about wrapped up here at Thrash Hits for 2009…there’s still a few more things to post before the big two-oh-one-oh, but for the most part, we’re done. And here with our last Slaylist of 2009, we’re offering up the choice cuts from our critics’ albums of the year. We asked everyone who’s written for us in 2009 to submit their top ten records of the year so we could compile the Thrash Hits Top Ten of ‘09. Before we release that tough, we’ve taken some choice cuts from the many nominations – some of which have made the final list – and have compiled them into a bulging Sunday Spotify Slaylist of epic proportions.

Spotify are still limiting new free users to their service, but since we’ve got an absolute shedload of invites anyone who hasn’t downloaded Spotify already can just send us an email and we’ll get you sorted quick-snap. Yes, as we careen to 2010 at high speed, we are still that awesome.

It’s not on the Slaylist as it came out in 1992, but here’s the UK Christmas no.1

Of course, we simply couldn’t fit every record we wanted onto the Slaylist – some of the smaller acts that got our critics’ pulses raging just aren’t available on the service. We’re particularly galled at the lack of anything by Invasion, whose debut album, The Master Alchemist, was one of year’s best.
