Do you remember The Volcano? The one from Iceland with the unpronounceable name? That grounded every damn plane in Europe for a week, and stranded Cancer Bats in the UK? We know a hell of a lot has gone on since then – a general election, the arrest of that cannibal serial killer guy who killed prostitutes with a crossbow, a taxi driver going on a shotgun rampage in Cumbria, the UK coming last in the Eurovision song contest….but back in April all Britain was talking about was how an erupting Icelandic magma-spout was destroying the airline industry as we know it.
Well, it was while the band were grounded in London town that we sent Raz to interview Liam Cormier, Cancer Bats’ hyperactive frontman. Liam, being 100% badass, is a fan of Thrash Hits, and before our interview he’d read the review we’d posted of his band’s third studio album, Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones. We’d given the record a more-than-respectable 4.5 out of 6 – something he was very keen to discuss with us….

Cancer Bats are back in the UK this coming weekend for Download Festival 2010. We’re going to get them in front of the camera again and continue our trend of dicking about with Liam whenever we get the chance. Since all our previous interview hook-ups with him have been all kinds of awesome, we fully expect it’ll be one of the best bits of a weekend that already looks set to be stuffed to the tits with highlights. Score!
