Top 6… Songs About Storms

storm thunder lightning rain thrash hits

We just had some almighty thunder, lightning and all things frightening across London. The thunder was so violent that the roof actually moved. In a vague attempt to remain slightly topical, here’s a crappy list of songs that are related to sad, stormy weather.

Guns N’ Roses – November Rain
Quite simply, this is one of the finest songs ever written. It’s really sad and the rain in November actually does make us feel a bit sad. It’s probably because it’s a little bit cold so you never quite manage to dry off.

Slayer – Raining Blood
Well, durr. If rain was actually made out of blood then storms would be totally awesome and massively disgusting at exactly the same time. Sales of umbrellas would go up exponentially and most horror films would immediately lose their edge.

Alice In Chains – Rain When I Die
Taken from their classic Dirt album, it’s a live classic, it’s a recorded classic and rumour has it that it really did start raining when Layne Staley passed. Spooky.

Mastodon – Blood and Thunder
Similar to Slayer’s contribution to this list, Mastodon have kept it gory and absolutely brutal. We love Mastodon.

Garbage – Only Happy When It Rains
This is a classic from the reformed Scottish/American rockers. Shirley Manson sounds totally pissed off so it must’ve been sunny when they recorded this song.

Dio – Naked In The Rain
It’s a song from RJD’s Dream Evil album. Don’t need to say anything else.

It’s stopped raining now. The grass can get back to turning into hay but make sure you leave suggestions for other songs about storms as well. Then you can get back to turning into hay as well.
