Japanese Voyeurs master the art of false endings in video to ‘Milk Teeth’

It’s difficult to do false endings in videos but by gum Japanese Voyeurs really, really manage it in their new video for ‘Milk Teeth’, which appears to have been shot using the Hipstamatic function.

With band promo photos taken by celebrated grunge photographer, Steve Gullick and a stunning video that apes the 90s scene so much, there’s an awesome amount of nostalgia associated with this band right now. Add Romily Alice’s gravelly sweet vocals and that’s why this band is such a winner.

When Fearne Cotton played this song on Radio 1, she said it was for “fans of Smashing Pumpkins”. Pretty reasonable as long as you know Cotton was referring to Pumpkins in their good period. Funnily enough, Japanese Voyeurs are supporting former SP bassist, Melissa Auf Der Maur in London tonight. Coinkydink!?

Anyway, the point is that more bands should do false endings. Especially in videos where the otherwise lovely young lady singing the song scares the living crap out of you. Watch her do it. This song is great.

Japanese Voyeurs will release their debut album, Yolk in early 2011. We cannot wait for that. Before that, however, they will go on tour across the UK with Young Guns. We are not big fans of them.
