Roadrunner Records

What they’re saying:
Guitarist and vocalist Matt Heafy told

“It’s tricky to describe. We want it to be that this next album just sounds like “Trivium”. We may have — probably have — said that every record’s goal is that, and it has been, but this time it’s without question. There have always been experimental songs, since Ascendancy, on our albums, and this time the CD will only have what it is meant to have.”

“Unfortunately, as of right now, there doesn’t seem to be an instrumental song that will be on the album. However, there will be songs that do things we have never had as a song formula before.”

“We’re making sure every part in every song needs to be there and is super-catchy and doesn’t go over people’s heads.”

Thrash Hits verdict:
Time to step it up, lads. Ascendancy was great, we’ve forgiven you The Crusade and Shogun contained moments of brilliance but a tad too much filler. When you are at your very best – moments like ‘Down From The Sky’, for example – you sound like you could conquer the world. Turn in an album of songs like that, and the world is your oyster. Stuff it up, and you may end up missing your opportunity to reach the very top for good. We know you’re capable of it, now deliver.
