The cult classic documentary Heavy Metal Parking Lot celebrates a quarter of a century or its silver jubilee or its 25th birthday this year. The good news is that you can watch the whole thing right here.
The film spends an afternoon hanging out with Judas Priests fans in a car park outside the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland on 31 May, 1986. Priest and Dokken were playing in there that evening and the fans were having a “tailgate party”. They were getting drunk in/on their cars. Classy.
Nirvana used to watch it on their tour bus to get them pumped up before going on stage and Dave Grohl still watches it. Less Than Jake, Backstreet Boys and Lady Starlight have all used HMPL as inspiration for their own videos so despite it being just 17 minutes in length, we guarantee you’ll have loads to say after you’ve watched it.
Go have a look at Heavy Metal Parking Lot on IMDb and give it 10 stars. We dare you.
