Bloodstock could give up now, frankly. They could book rubbish pub bands and the line-up would still be amazing. Instead, they’ve booked a legend. Former Emperor main man and now solo genius Ihsahn shall make his first EVER UK festival appearance at Catton Hall.
Ihsahn’s solo music is obviously absolutely amazing, and the chance to hear ‘Scarab‘ and ‘The Barren Lands‘ in the flesh deliciously exciting. But we’d be remiss if we did not point out one thing: that he is set to play the same day as Immortal. Given that the great man does still play the occasional piece of Emperor material, you’ll forgive every British black metal fan going a little off their trollies at the prospect of potentially hearing ‘I Am The Black Wizards‘ and ‘The Sun No Longer Rises‘ played live on the same day.
The UK never got to see this at a fest. That may change this summer.

Ihsahn joins an already stunning BOA bill, to be headlined by W.A.S.P., Immortal and Motorhead, and featuring appearances from Morbid Angel, Rhapsody Of Fire, Devin Townsend, Kreator, Exodus, Napalm Death, At The Gates, Coroner, Triptykon and Coroner among other great acts you rarely – if ever – see at UK festivals. This year’s installment takes place on August 12-14 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire. Tickets are on sale now from the official website.
