Well, this sucks – The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, one of the most criminially underrated British bands of the last decade, have announced they have broken up via their official Facebook page. That’s gone and put us in a foul mood for the rest of the week.
We know what some of you are mumbling about into your keyboards right now – that somehow the Brighton 5-piece aren’t (or now more accurately, weren’t) heavy enough to be featured on Thrash Hits. If you think that, then you’ve clearly not exposed yourself to any of their three genius albums – 2002′s Horse of the Dog, 2004′s The Royal Society, or their final swansong, 2010′s Blood and Fire. We’ve even gone and given you the direct links to the albums on Spotify, so you’ve got zero excuse not to spend this afternoon education yourselves.
Watch a selection of Eighties Matchbox videos and see just why they were so awesome:
In fact – somewhat sacrilegiously given the fact that Thrash Hits is a metal website – some of our editorial staff mugged off watching Iron Maiden at last year’s Sonisphere Festival to go and catch Eighties Matchbox’s headline slot over on the Bohemia Stage instead. Given that we’ll almost likely never see Eighties Matchbox screaming at us to celebrate our mothers ever again, it now feels more and more like we made the right decision.
