When Kamelot announced just over a week ago that their Norwegian vocalist, Roy Khan, was to leave the band due to “continuing medical and personal issues”, power metal fans across Europe started to panic. Why? Because the now-singerless band had impending tour dates. Luckily for them, the band quickly announced that Rhapsody of Fire’s Fabio Lione would be stepping in as a temporary replacement for the departed Khan until a more permanent replacement could be found.
It’s Lione’s head that we’ve badly photoshoppped onto Roy Khan’s in that picture above. You can barely tell, right? RIGHT?!?
Of course, when the tour hit England, we sent the irreplaceable Gary Wolstenholme along to take photos of Kamelot fronted by “that weird Italian from Rhapsody of Fire”. What? That’s just how Gary described him to us when he sent over the photos.

While Gary caught all the action from the front of the stage, Kamelot have been letting their fans see what goes on behind it with a series of behind-the-scenes tour videos that they’ve been posting throughout their European jaunt. And whaddya know? Just like our photoset above, the UK entry in the series was shot in Sheffield. Have a butchers at this:
We’re sure whoever Kamelot get in as a permanent vocalist will help take them to new and even more ridiculous heights than they achieved with their 2010 album, Poetry for the Poisoned. We guess finding a new frontman will be something to keep themselves busy once the tour is over. Of course, it’d also be a good time for Oliver Palotai to give his solo project, Son of Seasons, some time on the road. They were the subject of one of our Future Hits columns waaayyy back in 2009, and their second album came out at the start of this month. We’re just joining dots, is all.
