Some new names, but plenty of familiar faces – Reading & Leeds Festival announce Lock Up Stage line-up

Reading and Leeds Festival Lock Up Stage Thrash Hits

Last night (this morning?) on the Radio 1 Rock Show, Reading & Leeds Festivals confirmed the line-up for the Lock Up Stage – the two days of the festival where the third biggest stage is given over to punk. And despite us often joking among ourselves that it always seems to be 20 bands picked from a never-changing pool of about 30, this year’s announcement has some interesting new faces in amongst all the old favourites.

As you can see below, some of these names (Flogging Molly, The Kings Blues, Capdown) are no strangers to The Lock Up, having played the stage in the past. Others, like Keith Morris’ Off!, are making a welcome debut. That said, given the awful performances given by the Descendents at their recent Shepherds Bush shows, we’re not sure what to make of their confirmation as stage headliners….

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The King Blues
The Bronx

We all like a bit of The Bronx, right?

Tickets for Reading & Leeds Festivals are still available to buy, which means that 2011 is the first year in about half a decae that the festivals have not sold out (of Weekend tickets, at least) within 48 hours of going on sale. They’ll set you backa  hefty £192.50 (plus all the usual fees) for a full Weekend pass, with Day tickets coming in at £82.50 (before fees). If your wallet can take it, head on over to the official Reading or Leeds sites to buy yourself some tickets. Or Viagogo, where people are re-selling Weekend tickets from £109.99 and upwards. Jus’ sayin’!
