Hello readers of Thrash Hits/internet stumblers, my name is Gareth and I play bass in Bastions, just one of the bands on The Tangled Tour which is currently battering its way across the United Kingdom for seven days. It is not to be confused with The Tangled Up Tour, which was performed by Girls Aloud in 2008. I’m only mentioning this to hopefully grab a few more hits for that sweet, sweet advertising revenue for Thrash Hits. With that in mind, Cheryl Cole is a mug. Who does she think she is? Remember when she clouted that bird in a toilet? Nutter.
Back to the business at hand, I see no reason to introduce The Tangled Tour as Thrash Hits have already done so more than ably, with features on all seven bands performing on the tour. Get abreast of it, yeah? Anyway, the run kicked off last night in Joiners in Southampton, hometown of Kerouac and The Long Haul. Upon arrival hugs, handshakes and even kisses were exchanged between bands, and then we loaded our gear in, which is neither interesting nor fun. Here’s a picture of amps assembled in a cool-but-not-as-cool-as-Throats’-album-cover formation, though.

I spent the next half hour or so fixing the hook for the strap on my bass, which broke mid-set the night before in Tunbridge Wells due to my tendency to be a crazy punk. This was done with the help of guitar/graphic design git, Jamie McDonald. To be honest he did most of it and I just duct-taped it so tight that it dare not cross me again for at least a couple more shows.
Anyway the show was amazing but unfortunately we were unable to party afterwards because we had to trip back to London to where we were staying. Apparently all the other bands went onto something called “Unit” and I imagine, times were had. At this point in the day I haven’t heard any mental rockstar drunk stories as I’m sat on my arse in a flat, but I did find this video of Jon Gareze from Kerouac….

….waking up in a bath and carjacking Chino from Deftones. Guy’s nuts. Check it out:
London tonight. Show me it.
Gareth.

Gareth Davies will continue to blog for us throughout The Tangled Tour, assuming a) he manages to find sufficient internet connections when on the road, and b) he doesn’t die.
