That blog title’s a rhetorical question, before anyone has a tr00-kvlt breakdown in the comments. Pretty much everyone knows that Adam “Nergal” Darski is one of the judges on TV talent show, The Voice of Poland, but we reckon significantly fewer people will have seen this video of the Behemoth frontman taking part in a rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s pop hit ‘Crazy’ alongside his fellow judges from the show.
Don’t panic – Nergal doesn’t actually sing on the rendition – he limits himself to playing guitar and throwing out a smug smile here and there while the other judges from the show act as the Cee Lo Green substitutes. Then again, we’re not sure if the voice of the man who sung ‘Lucifer’ would gel very well with those of his fellow judges, anyway.
This all of course co-incides with the news that TVP, the Polish state broadcaster that produces The Voice of Poland, will not return as one of the judges on the show if it is renewed for a second series. Apparently Nergal’s latest brush with the religious sensibilities of Poland’s Catholic establishment was enough to tip the network over the edge. While we can’t say we’re fans of The Voice of Poland (we’re not really big consumers of reality TV or Polish state broadcasting here at Thrash Hits), we are a little sad that the network appears to have succumbed to pressures from religious groups to have Nergal removed from Polish TV screens. They were willing to hire him in the first place despite the high-profile (and ludicrous) Bible-tearing case that was brought against him, as well as resisting previous calls for Nergal’s removal from bishops, some people calling themselves “journalists“, and even some viewers – why give in now?
(A big shout-out goes out to Metal Insider who first picked up on this story and the video above)
