They want you to listen to it so badly that they’re willing to let you have it FOR FREE in exchange for an email address. That’s not a bad deal, in our book.

This isn’t the first time that Earache have given away an entire album by one of their artists for free – they did the same with Tales from the Grave in Space from Gama Bomb, and earlier this year after it leaked, Earache offered up a bare-bones version of Wormrot’s Dirge as a free download. You can still download both of those albums for free here.

As a promotional tactic, it’s not without merit – we’re listening to the Savage Messiah record as we type this. Would we be listening to Savage Messiah right now if Plague of Conscience hadn’t been offered up as free download? Probably not. What are the chances we’ll make the effort to go see Savage Messiah play live (and buy a t-shirt or some other merch, as Earache is hoping) now? Significantly higher than they were 24 hours ago.
