When Cathedral announced back in May that they were going to play their final ever live show on 03 December 2011 at the London Kentish Town Forum, a little part of us crossed its fingers and hoped that something would come along and change Lee Dorian and co.’s minds. With the gig now a mere handful of days away, we’ve had to accept that it’s actually happening. It’s little solace, but at least it gives us an excuse to post a video that’s stuffed to to the britches with Satanic orgies and some truly spaced-out dancing from Lee Dorian.
At the time of writing, tickets are still available for this final show – and given that Cathedral have got Comus, Grand Magus, and Gentlemans Pistols in support, you’d be a fool to miss what in all probability will be one of the top shows of 2011. In an age where people are willing to throw epithets such as “legendary” at bands practically as soon as their second album has dropped, Cathedral’s 21 year career as a staple of British metal most certainly qualifies them for such accolades. Once Cathedral release The Last Spire, their final studio album that currently has no release date pegged to it other than “sometime in 2012″, we’ll just have their back catalogue to remember them by – so don’t miss this one last chance to see some British metal legends go out in style.
