Trevor Strnad and The Black Dahlia Murder had a pretty splendid 2011. Their fifth studio album, Ritual, was a hit with fans and critics alike, and after talking with Trevor the other day, it seems as though his band is well-prepared for the impending 2012 apocalypse when the lizards are going to take over.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
I think its called ‘Holiday Season’. I don’t know who sings it but he sounds like a crotchety old man. Christmas songs remind me of working at Frank’s Nursery And Crafts… I worked in the Christmas Tree department. I had sap all over me all the time and cuts all over my arms… it was my first job and it sucked.
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
A Christmas Story… duh! You’ll shoot your eye out kid!
What is the most metal Christmas present you’ve either given or received?
Autopsy’s Severed Survival album when I was in 9th grade… it blew my mind.
What is your best memory of 2011?
Releasing our album, Ritual, to a great reception… also celebrating the 10th year of the band.
What is your favourite album of 2011?
Hard one… Vile’s Metamorphosis, maybe?
What will your New Year Resolution be?
I don’t usually make them. I am set in my ways and cannot be changed by any means.
If all those mad prophecies about 2012 being the end of the world comes true, how do you want the apocalypse to manifest itself?
The internet is gonna go down, and then everyone is going to freak out.
What role would you take in a nativity play?
Big Baby Jesus
2011 has been a year of revolution and upheaval – what do you think will happen in 2012?
Reptilians are going to surface and crown TBDM guitarist Ryan Knight their king!

Who is the ugliest person you’ve kissed under the mistletoe?
Never kissed anyone under the mistletoe. I have kissed a few beasts, though.
What do you think of Lulu?
I don’t. I wish Metallica would have stopped making music in 1991… I feel bad for Lou Reed.
