As we approach the end of yet another year, we find ourselves looking back – not just at the good (of which next week we’ll be discussing plenty of, with the publication of the Thrash Hits Albums Of The Year lists), but the bad. Over the past twelve months, some of our favourite bands decided the time had come to split up, or going on hiatus. We decided to make this week’s Slaylist a tribute to all the great acts that called it a day in 2011. Oh, and Disturbed.
We’re cheating a little by having Cathedral and Judas Priest on the list. We figured that even although they’re both releasing albums and playing shows next year (albeit just one, in Cathedral’s case), they’re both announced their planned forthcoming hiatuses this year. Look, we’ll do what we want okay? IT’S OUR SLAYLIST.

Spotify is available to most of Western Europe and the USA for free – though obviously you’re better off shelling out either £5 or £10 a month for one of Spotify’s premium packages, as then you can listen to our Slaylists without having them interrupted by adverts. For our readers in countries not currently serviced by Spotify….sorry.

Out of all the bands that split up/went on hiatus in 2011, who do you miss the most? Was there anyone we overlooked when we put together our Slaylist? Drop us a comment down below and point out our stupidity.
