Converge
All We Love We Leave Behind
Epitaph Records
Late Summer 2012
What they’re saying:
“Painfully little”, is the honest answer. Earlier this month, Decibel magazine confirmed the album’s title as All We Love we Leave Behind, but other than that, the only firm comment we have from the band comes via their twitter feed:
“Listening to Converge demos. Envision the soundtrack to Conan The Barbarian driving Mad Max’s V8 Interceptor thru the Mall Of America…”
WE ARE EXCITED.
Converge – they don’t fuck around:
Thrash Hits verdict:
Well, what do we know then, other than the album’s title?!? We know that Converge have consistently hit the very high standards their own back catalogue sets for them, that’s for sure – even the stick-in-the-mud, they’ll-never-better-Jane-Doe types admit that Axe To Fall is as damn near close in quality to their 2001 classic as it’s possible to get. Heck, we’d even go so far as to say that the records in between them – You Fail Me and No Heroes – merely reflect different aspects of the Massachusetts’ band’s intensity. Do we have any reason to doubt that they won’t continue to meet their own exceedingly high standards with 2012′s entry into their impressive catalogue of rage? Not in the slightest. One spin of All Pigs Must Die’s God Is War is all you need to remind yourself just how potent Ben Koller’s drumming can be. Kurt Ballou’s production skills have continued to grow from strength to strength and they’re still as pissed off as ever. There ain’t nobody going to damage 2012 the way that Converge are planning on scarring the next 12 months.
Guitar solo potential: 3/6
