Bloodstock Open Air have confirmed another pair of names for their 2012 bill – this time around it’s Iced Earth and Sepultura. For both bands, this will be their only UK shows in 2012. We guess that’s kind of alright, isn’t it?
We don’t have that much to say about the booking of these two – we’d be lying if we pretended we felt anything too far above tepid at the prospect of seeing a completely Cavalera-less Sepultura (their last album, Kairos, was kind of “alright” in our book). This will be Iced Earth’s first UK festival appearance with the band’s current frontman, Stu Block (that’s him in the middle of the photo up above), and their first return to Bloodstock since 2008. Back then, the band were fronted by Matt Barlow, who has the (dubious) honour of being the subject/victim first video interview we ever published here on Thrash Hits. Sod it, this news is enough of an excuse for us to publish it again, right?
Watch us interview Matt Barlow (formerly of Iced Earth) back at Bloodstock Open Air 2008:
We’re so embarassed at how cheap and shoddy that video looks. OH WELL.
Joining Iced Earth and Sepultura at Bloodstock Open Air 2012 (which once again takes place at Catton Hall, this year from 09 August 2010 to 12 August 2010) are the previously-announced acts of Alice Cooper, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed, Corrosion of Conformity, Deicide, Anaal Nathrakh, Watain, Paradise Lost, Nile, Mayhem, and Anvil. Weekend Tickets for the festival are on sale now from £115 (plus fees) over on the official Bloodstock website.
