Download Festival have announced a veritable swathe of additional acts that will be gracing their festival at Donington Park this Summer. There’s even a fair few heavyweights in this announcement, including Megadeth, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, Slash, and Thrash Hits’ personal favourite purveyors of intellectual metal, Five Finger Death Punch.

The other names announced today are Steel Panther, As I Lay Dying, Kyuss Lives! (whom we’ve had more than a little to say about in the past, and from more than one point of view, to boot), Rise Against, Fear Factory, Billy Talent, Terrorvision, Periphery, Ginger, and Reckless Love. We’re sure there’s something in there for everyone to get a little excited about – even if it’s just a faint whiff of nostalgia in regards to Terrorvision’s unlikely mainstream pop smash, ‘Tequila’. Did you know that it wasn’t even Terrorvision’s original version of their song that got to no.2 in the charts? It was a bloody remix. Yep, we’re so stuffed full of facts right now we doubt there isn’t a parade going that we aren’t capable of raining upon.

Watch us give Josh from As I Lay Dying a manly hug at Download Festival 2010:

Tickets for Download Festival 2012 are on sale now from the festival’s official website, and start at £155 for the most bare-bones packages (although that doesn’t include those pesky fees). If you’re thinking of going, it might be better to buy sooner rather than later – family camping packages for the festival have already sold out. This year’s Download Festival – as always – takes place at Donington Park from June 8-10.
