Sunday Slaylist: Hammerfest IV – The Hammer of Thor

This time next week, our intrepid representatives at Hammerfest IV – The Hammer of Thor, will be slowly trying to recover from a weekend where the level of attention paid to the many heavy metal bands playing is directly (and inversely) proportional to the levels of booze being imbibed by them. How do we know they’ll be getting smashed rather than getting their mosh on? Well, because even if you headline your event with Anthrax and Skindred, we know for a fact that whenever more than one Thrash Hits contributor ends up in the same room at Pontin’s in Prestatyn, someone ends up puking. That’s not us trying to sound like a bunch of lads-on-tour kerrrrayyyzzzyy drunks either – that’s the raw statistics of Hammerfest talking.

In any case, we figured we’d put together a Hammerfest-themed Spotify Slaylist to start getting them in the mood nice and early.

In addition to the headliners of Anthrax and Skindred, Hammerfest IV boasts a line-up that includes Evile, Amon Amarth, Paradise Lost, Chimaira, Cerebral Bore, Savage Messiah, DripBack, Lawnmower Deth, Arthemis, Hammer Of The Gods, and what’s set to be the final ever festival performance from the soon-to-be-split metallers, Anterior. If you’re already going – good work. If you’re not already going – well, we hope our Slaylist convinces you to sort out a ticket sharpish….

Spotify is available to most of Western Europe and the USA for free – though obviously you’re better off shelling out either £5 or £10 a month for one of Spotify’s premium packages, as then you can listen to our Slaylists without having them interrupted by adverts. For our readers in countries not currently serviced by Spotify….sorry.

Watch us interview Evile last year – they’re going to be at Hammerfest IV too:

While most of the Thrash Hits crew descending on Hammerfest IV are seasoned veterans of the event, at least one of them is a Hammerfest-virgin. What advice do you have to give him to survive this weekend of carnage and debauchery in North Wales? Drop us a comment with your best hints and tips down below.

Didn’t Anterior pull out of Hammerfest?

That’s very true. But I’m going to leave them on there as they were a good band and this might be the last time we get to include them here on Thrash Hits :-(
