We first started banging on about 7 Horns 7 Eyes over a year ago, when their brand of prog-inclined-but-still-moodily-crushing metal caught our attention with sufficient force for us to violently thrust our Future Hits column in their direction. So when the chaps over at Basick Records dropped us a line and asked if we’d like to host a European-exclusive (insofar as anything on the internet is “exclusive”, these days) stream of their debut album, Throes of Absolution, the weekend before it even goes on sale, we…well, you can guess the rest, can’t you? Why are you still reading this? Click that [Read More] link now and go and listen to it!
The album is available to buy from Monday 23 April 2012, either directly from Basick Records, your digital download vendor of choice, or – Heaven’s above – maybe an actual, real-world record shop, if you happen to live near such a thing. Right now though, you just want to hear it, right? RIGHT?
Pretty damn awesome, isn’t it? We’re kind of assuming you think it’s awesome, as if you didn’t, you’d probably have stopped reading this article by now. IT’S LIKE WE KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING. Well, if that stream tickled your fancy, Basick are also kindly offering up an acoustic version of ‘Divine Amnesty’ as a FREE download at this link here right now. Yes, they’re really putting a push behind this album, but then if you’ve been a clever boy/girl and listened to the album via our stream above, the fact that a label that takes as much care as Basick does regarding what they put out wanting to get behind an album like Throes of Absolution shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise. If you read our Future Hits interview with the band, you’ll know that it’s a mark of their class that ex-Nevermore guitarist and all-round six-string here, Jeff Loomis, wanted to work with them. When Jeff flippin’ Loomis wants to guest on your debut album, you’re definitely doing something right.
And while we’re not sure why you would want to watch an album sampler video when you’ve got THE WHOLE BLOODY ALBUM TO LISTEN TO UP ABOVE, 7 Horns 7 Eyes have also put one of those together. Though to be honest, if you’ve reached this point of the page and still haven’t made up your mind about 7H7E, well, we’re not sure what else we/this video can do to convince you:
And! If you happen to be an American reading this (and we look at our stats – we know that plenty of you are), then you’ll have a chance next month to catch 7H7E playing live. Hopefully they’ll be coming over here to the UK sometime soon too, but for the time being, we’ll just have to silently grumble and narrow our eyes at all the Americans enjoying these 7H7E tour dates down below:
Are you tired? We’re tired out after posting all this. We’re going to go have a nice lie down and listen to some (not so) relaxing heavy metal. We hear that 7 Horns 7 Eyes have a new album out, and they’re streaming it through Thrash Hits right now. Perhaps we’ll give that a spin.
