It’s that time of year again – it’s the return of the Thrash Hits Download Festival splash page for 2012! All of our Download coverage from across the entire weekend will be linked to on this here post, so make sure you bookmark it as it’s all you’re going to need. That means individual band coverage in the form of photos and setlists, as well as reviews of each day’s highlights, every scandalous rumour and dirty bit of gossip that we overhear, and every outrageous photo of muddy debauchery that our photographers can get their lenses on.

Gossip?!

  • The site was so waterlogged that organisers were forced to put off opening the site for over an hour. This meant that Rise To Remain and Cancer Bats had their Main stage slots cancelled. Which sucked.
  • Traffic was so bad getting on to the site, that Europe just gave up and went home. It took us three hours to travel the last ten miles. Does that make us more hardcore than Joey Tempest? Yes, we think it does.
  • We’d been onsite for less than an hour, and someone had already got their dick out backstage in the media tent. He had a question mark tattoo’d on it though, so y’know, there was that.
  • Cancer Bats might’ve had their Main Stage spot cancelled, but their Canadian buddies Billy Talent let them come on stage in the middle of their set to blast out some of their frustration with a song. That, ladies and gentlemen, was a cool thing for Billy Talent to do.
  • Festival Trend: every band frontman seems to be pulling the Jesus Christ pose this year. Go check out our photos of Gallows, Skindred, and Lower Than Atlantis if you want proof.
