Thrash Hits

June 19th, 2012

We forgot to tell you to go watch Xibalba before their tour started, but hey, it’s not finished yet.

We really should pay more attention to our email inbox. Okay, well, possibly not – there are 2000+ unread emails in there already, but when someone emailed us about Xibalba, well, we really should’ve gotten on it ASAP. Because we just listened to the Californian death metal/hardcore mob’s forthcoming second album during our lunchbreak, and it almost made us wee with excitement.

You can hear what we’re on about over on Pitchfork, where the band are currently streaming one of the tracks from their aforementioned second album, Hasta La Muerte. That means “To The Death” in Spanish. They’re right in the middle of a European tour right now, the UK dates of which kicked off this weekend. There’s still four dates left to go though, so if you’re near one of the below dates, get yourself along for some seriously low-end death-metal-hardcore. GRRRRRR.

Xibalba June UK tour dates:
19 Newcastle Trillians
20 Newport Le Pub
21 Exeter Cavern
22 London Camden Underworld

The album is due out on August 14 on Southern Lord, and features some guest guitar work by Greg Anderson. Anderson, for those of you who didn’t know, is not only the head-honcho over at Southern Lord, founder member of Goatsnake, and 50% of drone overlords Sunn O))). It was finding out that Greg Anderson is on board to release and guest on this album that got our attention, and oh boy, are we glad it did. We’ll be reviewing this one very soon – keep an eye out.
