Sunday Slaylist: A crash course in King Diamond

Earlier this week, Bloodstock Open Air got in on the festival-headliner-announcement game by confirming that King Diamond would be making his UK festival debut as their Friday night headliner for 2013. Now while this is frickin’ awesome all of itself, we were talking about it in the pub over the weekend and realised the sheer lack of King Diamond/Mercyful Fate knowledge in  our immediate circle of friends. Dear readers, we’d be lying if we said we were anything less than shocked and ashamed.

To that end, this week’s Slaylist is a crash-course in King Diamond, via the setlist that he and his band played at this year’s Hellfest and Sweden Rock Festival. Now obviously there’s no guarantee that this set is going to be the one that they’ll play at Bloodstock Open Air 2013, but it’s still a more-than-suitable introduction to the work of the The King.

Spotify is available to most of Western Europe, the USA, Australia and New Zealand for free – though obviously you’re better off shelling out either £5 or £10 a month for one of Spotify’s premium packages, as then you can listen to our Slaylists without having them interrupted by adverts. For our readers in countries not currently serviced by Spotify….sorry. You’ll just have to buy a ticket for Bloodstock Open Air 2013 and start checking out the prices of cheap flights to the UK….
