What They’re Saying
Here’s the fantastically bugged out video for ‘Shadow Moses’, in which Oliver Sykes shouts, “This. Is. Sempiternal.” A lot.
Mr Sykes has said some other things as well though:
“There’s a very euphoric sound coursing through the album, a very uplifting but yet sad sound. Electronically, it’s far more advanced than anything we’ve done before. Writing Sempiternal was a completely different process. We worked from a computer, laying down ideas and riffs and working on them tirelessly until we had what we wanted.”
This is what the Sempiternal album cover looks like.
Thrash Hits verdict:
Judging from repeated listens of ‘Shadow Moses’ – it’s a rather catchy tune – that quote up there looks pretty accurate. It’s still a #M0SH Anthem but there is a euphoric sound and it sounds very electronic. That will have come from the departure of guitarist Jona Weinhofen and the introduction of his replacement, keyboardist Jordan Fish. It’s a bold move but it could be what the Sheffield quintet needed to make happen in order to actually make the step up from Massive Metalcore Band to Massive Band – some have been predicting/hoping that for years but it hasn’t happened thus far. With such a long lead up to the album release, however, BMTH are pushing for the mainstream more than ever before. Watch this space.
