Make your own moshpit

Matt Bierbaum, a graduate Physics student from Cornell University, has made a moshpit simulation based on data collected in a genuine universiy paper about moshing. It’s called Collective Motion of Moshers at Heavy Metal Concerts and the simulation can be found here.

Brilliantly, the simulation allows the user to change the conditions of the pit, thus changing the constitution of the mosh. It’s very cool.

If you ever had any doubt, stay in school, kids. If you do, you might have the opportunity to do something this awesome.

Just left it on the default settings, and I am now watching a mosh pit that runs out of the doors on one side of the venue and then enters on the other side… Just like a real pit.

Ok just changed the first setting to 88 and now there are red dots everywhere teleporting diagonally and everything.

I haven’t actually managed to get anything like a mosh pit yet, has anyone got any good settings?
