The mighty Pink Mist collective are going to be selling their wares in real life at Boxpark, east London from 12pm Monday, 06 May 2013. Made up of excellent indie labels Holy Roar, Tangled Talk, Big Scary Monsters and Blood And Biscuits plus a live promoter, they’re gonna be selling records and having sweet instore sessions. Monday is May Day bank holiday, so you have no excuse if you’re even vaguely nearby.
How and why did it come about?
“Boxpark approached Ross (who runs all of the Pink Mist live shows) and asked if we wanted to open a popup shop there for a week. We had one just down the road for a day last summer and it was great fun, so obviously jumped at the chance. As to why it came about, I’d like to think it’s because Pink Mist is a cool, interesting brand, carrying releases from simply the best bands in the world. The truth is probably closer to the fact Ross is some kind of EastEnders gangster character.”
Why is Boxpark good?
“We’re all big fans of the Boxpark. It’s a great concept [read more on Boxpark.co.uk] and an amazing location, one we pass almost daily as our office and the Old Blue Last (our second home) [and ours – Ed] are nearby.”
What have you got planned?
“We’ve got quite a bit planned for our week in store. Firstly we’ll have a 16-track sampler CD featuring bands from across Pink Mist given out free with every single purchase. We also have loads of exclusive/sold out vinyl, brand new merch designs, low prices (getting lower the more drunk we are) and promotions running. AND there’ll be acoustic instore performances on Saturday 11th May from Brontide and Tangled Hair, as well as cameo appearances from other bands throughout the week, who’ll be calling by to help out (bring us beer) and talk to customers (about their own music. Arrogant pricks).”
And make sure that if you’re in London tonight, you come down to XOYO and mosh out to Thrash Hits DJing in between Narrows, Coliseum and Pariso. YES.
