Sunday Slaylist: ArcTanGent Festival 2014

It used to be that Reading & Leeds marked the end of the festival calendar. If you still believe that, then you’re living in the past, granddad. There are a whole load of tasty little outdoor festivals that the UK has to offer in the wake of the bloated August Bank Holiday Weekend has to offer – this week we’re turning our attention to the post-rock stylings of Bristol’s ArcTanGent.

Returning for its second year, ArcTanGent is a brilliant showcase of post-rock, math rock, noise, with a little bit of experimental indie music bolted on. Given the glut of festivals clogging up the UK summer (some of which experiencing the downside of such an over-stuffed marketplace), ArcTanGent has been able to force a fierce identity all of its own. Keeping to a two-day schedule (with a scaled back Thursday night opening party) means they keep their line-up without any flab or fat. It’s two days of solid quality, which we’re reflecting with a Sunday Spotify Slaylist of equal measure.

REMEMBER – if you subscribe to our Weekly Slaylist in Spotify you’ll automatically get the new Slaylist every time we update it. You don’t have to do anything and BOSH new Slaylists for you. We’ve also got every single past Slaylist safely archived, if one of our previous ones really tickled your fancy – check them all out here.

Spotify is available to most of Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and a load of other countries for free – though obviously you’re better off shelling out £10 a month for Spotify’s Premium package, as then you can listen to our Slaylists without having them interrupted by adverts. For our readers in countries not currently serviced by Spotify…tickets are still available for ArcTanGent 2014 via their website. Get on it!
