You may know about our love/obsession with most things Icelandic so it may not be a surprise to see a new band from Reykjavik featured here. This is MUCK, they play intelligent, discordant hardcore and it’s fantastic.

We actually wrote about Muck being the best fucking band you’ll hear this year back in 2011. You could take that to mean that you’ll hear a better new band in 2015 or that they’re still the best new band you’ll hear this year, or whatever you like, really. We live in a democratic, meritocratic world where your thoughts and opinions should be paramount. So listen to this, maybe read that article from 2011 and think about how this music and performance would really feel. And then make your own mind up.

PROS: their music is awesome; they’re artists in the truest sense of the world; they take the piss on instagram.

Here’s something the band said about the video.

“My city is the first single to appear from our new album. When working on it we gave it the working title of ‘Groove’ because the main vibe had this weird krautrock/industrial thing going on. My city is about feeling like you’re getting eaten up by routine and trying to work out how to change it. It’s about accepting the lack of feeling and learning how to draw new experiences from your surroundings.”

Here’s the cover to their new album, Your Joyous Future. If you like what you’ve seen so far, you can pre-order the album direct from Prosthetic before its release on 23 February 2015.
