The end of the year is here. Pretty much everything that’s going to be released is now out, and barring any late breaking oh-my-God-is-that-actually-happening style news stories, 2013 is done and dusted. And with the convenient if entirely arbitrary transition from one year to the next a mere 48 hours away, we’re dedicating the final Sunday Spotify Slaylist of 2013 to the records that we loved the most this year.
All Pigs Must Die
All Pigs Must Die is an American metallic hardcore/crust punk band from Massachusetts, formed in 2009 consisting of Kevin Baker of the The Hope Conspiracy, Ben Koller of Converge, and Adam Wentworth and Matt Woods of Bloodhorse, the former of which also being a member of Acid Tiger. All Pigs Must Die on Thrash Hits
December 12th, 2013
Like any artform, music is not a competition. There is only good and bad music and that categorisation in itself is all down to subjective taste. However, in a bid for scientific rigour; some quantitative analysis to fortify the qualitative spiels, we’ve asked all the Thrash Hits contributors to list their favourite albums of 2013. Yeah, it’s here to boost our egos by claiming what we say is best and it’ll surely get some good clicks and you may (rightly) point out that it’s just another list but, at the very least, you might see an album that you’ve never heard of and think about buying it. That would be cool.

Due to the fact Raz and Hugh run things at Thrash Hits, their opinions are the most important. Yes there’s an overall TH Top 20 Albums of 2013 and there’s a list of the individual contributors’ favourite albums, but their opinions are also the most correct. That’s why they’ve got their own post where they can explain their own favourite albums of 2013 without being sullied by democracy.

In this week’s Cloudcast, our entire editorial team in on the mic as Hugh is joined by Raz to talk about some of the best (and in fact, also worst) albums getting released this week, as some outright classic tracks from some of the biggest bands playing shows across the UK over the next seven days.

Stop what you’re doing, stop pretending that the last Nails album was all business, and go buy yourself a copy of Nothing Violates This Nature by All Pigs Must Die. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what the Nails album wanted to sound like. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what you need to buy If You Buy One Thing This Week.

We saw the power of Songkick Detour back in February when, in conjunction with our big sister, DrownedinSound, Desaparecidos played their first UK show. It was impressive and it was powered by the crowd. They wanted to see Desaparecidos play live in London and they put their money where their mouths were. We want to do the same thing with some bands that we like.

All Pigs Must Die
ETA Spring 2013
December 9th, 2011
I’ve spent 2011 harping on about one band: Trap Them. It’s unlikely you could have had a conversation with me about music without me saying “Darker” and “Handcraft” at some point. I may have just spoilt the incredible fun of reading my list. Anyway… the other nine albums on this list are wicked as well. Buy them all.

All Pigs Must Die
God Is War

There’s a bunch of these super, super heavy bands knocking around at the moment. They call it “crust punk”, “grindcore” and “proto-thrash” but it’s inspired by the furious punk metal of Discharge and the classic death metal of Entombed. Featuring members of Converge and The Hope Conspiracy, All Pigs Must Die are certainly one of them. Unsurprisingly, God Is War is a great reason for this effort in brutality to exist.

This is last free download thing we’ll post today – we promise. Southern Lord have put together a killer 20-track mixtape to mark The Power Of The Riff, the tour/festival-thing they’ve got set to tear up the West Coast of the USA later this month. Why should this be of interest of anyone here in Blighty? Well, because said mixtape features acts like All Pigs Must Die, Black Breath, Early Graves, and Trap Them, that’s why.
That and the fact that they’re giving it away for free.
