Record Store Day is once again looming – this weekend, music collector nerds of all shapes and sizes will descend upon their local record shops to buy over-priced and often not-very-good limited edition releases to mark the occasion. However, some of the stuff being put out for Record Store Day is bloody brilliant, and the New Heavy Sounds Vol.3 compilation – featuring a load of killer new tracks from a whole load of their bands – is one of those, hence why it’s our pick for If You Buy One Thing This Week.
Danny Fury (guitar), Damo Ezekiel Holmes (vocals), Sam Ray (Bass) and Oliver Parker (Drums) are the core members that started the group in early 2009. The quartet cut their teeth playing in various rock/punk bands before coming together to create what can only be described... as something oddly complete. Also in the ranks is Sarah Townsend (flute).

Back in 2003, Kerrang! magazine published a list of the most influential albums ever, with Faith No More’s Angel Dust sitting at the top of the pile. Ten years later and that 1992 album is still proving an inspiration to many – Mike Patton’s most famous project has left an indelible mark on the landscape of alternative music, and the vein of influence courses through this second album from South East Londoners, Antlered Man.
