Bad Religion is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, known for the social commentary in their lyrics. The band was formed in 1979 by high school students Greg Graffin (vocals), Jay Bentley (bass guitar), Jay Ziskrout (drums), and Brett Gurewitz (guitar). In 1981, they released their eponymous debut EP on their own newly-formed label, Epitaph, managed and owned by Gurewitz. 1982 saw the release of their first full-length album, How Could Hell be Any Worse?, which gained them a sizable following. Advent Calendar 2014 Thrash Hits

Look, we bloody love Christmas. If you’re not on board with that, then it’s probably a good idea to stop reading now.

For those of you who are left, you’ve probably noticed that over the past week we’ve been posting daily videos on Facebook and Twitter of some of our favourite Christmas-themed songs. Download 2014 Bands You Know Thrash Hits

In two weeks time, we will be at Download Festival 2014. Still the single biggest weekend in the UK rock calendar, once again around about 100,000 rock fans will descend upon Donington Park for three days of music, drinking, debauchery, and casual sexism. To get us in the mood for the first three of those things (let’s hope there’s a lot less of the fourth this year, right guys?), the next two Sunday Slaylists are all about the line-up to this year’s festival.

This week: The big guns. The heavy hitters. The bands you know.

Is there anything better than a Thrash Hits Festival Splash Page? Yeah, loads of things but you won’t find the best online festival coverage on any of them. You’ll find that right here.

All our work from Sonisphere Festival 2011 is going be linked to from this page (eventually), so give it a bookmark or just don’t close it, because it’s all you’re going to need. Individual band coverage (interviews, photos, setlists and some tiny reviews), rumours, drinking games, stage times, dodgy photos of as many sexy ladies in various states of safe-for-work undress as we can legitimately get away with? It’s all here.

Christmas shopping is probably the only thing we hate about Christmas. It is rubbish. Shops become crowded with idiots. It’s cold. We can never find a suitable present for our Daily Express-reading uncle who lives alone and breed budgerigars as a hobby. In short: Christmas shopping is a right-royal pain in the arse.

Album: Bad Religion – The Dissent of Man

The Dissent of Man

by Bron Smith

Old punk bands never die; they just get endlessly emulated by younger ones. Such is the fate of Bad Religion – pretty much every punk band that’s bored you with formulaic pop-punk over the last couple of decades is peddling nine-tenths diluted ideas they’ll have half inched from Greg Graffin and co. But where does that leave Bad Religion 30 years? Has the immeasurably influential punk rock institution still got anything to be angry about? And more importantly, have they still got enough ire to keep up with the untempered aggression of their legions of acolytes?
