Basement are an alternative rock band from Ipswich, Suffolk, UK consisting of five members, Alex, Andrew, Duncan, James and Ronan. Signed to Run For Cover records, Basement has released a 2009 demo, one EP, Songs About The Weather (2010) as well as three LPs: I Wish I Could Stay Here (2011), Colourmeinkindness (2012) and Promise Everything (2016).

The band went on hiatus due to personal commitments after their This is Goodbye tour, with their last sold out shows in Leeds and London in November 2012. Read more on Last.fm

We hope everyone out there who was a fan of Basement got the chance to see them live. If you didn’t, you’re a bit late now, as they played their last ever show this weekend here in London. Still, if you are one of that most unlucky number who didn’t get to see the band in the final run of farewell gigs, don’t fret too hard – some kind soul has only gone and videoed almost the entire show from the band’s penultimate show at The Well in Leeds from 16 November 2012.

It sounds like a cliché, but bands like Basement don’t come around too often. In their short life span, the five kids from Ipswich toured three continents, recorded two albums and managed to sell out  their last ever show – happening at the Camden Underworld next month – in less than 10 minutes. Beyond the hype, though, was a band capable of charming even the most jaded with their heavy-hearted take on melodic hardcore that channelled all the bookish innocence of a distant emo scene.

Your Demise released their fourth studio album last month, and so obviously they’re out on the road, playing shows in support of it. That’s just what bands do, right? Around the time they released the album in question The Golden Age, a load of kids in New Era caps got butthurt on Tumblr because Your Demise had sold out or something. I guess these fans didn’t really number all that many though, as from what we could tell, these shows were selling out too (but in the good way).
