Benedict Edwards will be familiar to the sliver of our readership old enough to remember Miocene, one of the brightest (but sadly short burning) highlights of the UK’s nu-metal response around the turn of the millennium. Unfortunately shenanigans happened (more on that below) and the band finally called it a day in 2006, although in truth they had ceased functioning as a band several years prior to that. After that band disappeared, so did their frontman Benedict aka Ben, until he resurfaced in 2012 with a creepy acoustic record, The Gin Palace. Now he’s got a second solo record – an even-creepier instrumental piano record. Hugh Platt sat down with Ben in the garden of an East London pub to find out just what the hell he was up to in between.
